In Gothenburg, Sweden, PEAB AB is undertaking the reconstruction of Olskroken, one of the busiest rail traffic hubs in the country. To ensure the safety and efficiency of this critical project, Railmonitor was called upon to provide a comprehensive solution for monitoring the track bed near the construction site.

Challenge: Avoiding an Unnecessary Patchwork of Systems

Large construction projects often result in a complex patchwork of systems, with each supplier introducing their own specialized solutions. This can lead to an unmanageable array of systems that complicate project management. PEAB AB developed its own internal system to cover the entire construction site, necessitating the integration of external monitoring solutions into this unified system.

Solution: Co-creation is Key

Railmonitor’s software platform, the Digital Service Platform, provided the flexible, easily adjustable solution needed for this integration. Railmonitor R&D department collaborated closely with PEAB to customize the system, ensuring it seamlessly fit their internal system. This co-creation process involved adjusting existing features and developing specific add-ons tailored to PEAB’s requirements.

The Digital Service Platform, originally built as a stand-alone system, was adapted to facilitate smooth data incorporation into PEAB’s centralized system. The data gathered from TrackBed³⁶⁰ solutions sensors are automatically sent to Railmonitor’s Digital Service Platform, where it provides advanced insights and foresight with features like the Foresight Lens, predicting railway behavior up to 7 days in advance. Instant alarm notifications are sent if preset thresholds are exceeded, ensuring immediate response to potential issues. These are the features integrated with PEAB’s own system.

Results:

The integration of the Digital Service Platform into PEAB’s system has enhanced the overall efficiency and safety of the Olskroken reconstruction project. By centralizing data, PEAB has achieved a higher level of productivity, with a comprehensive overview of all critical aspects of the construction site.
